Housed in a lovingly restored 17th Century inn, our pub is steeped in a fascinating history that stretches back centuries. Situated on Acton’s High Street, our original dark wood frontage is a reminder of the pub’s previous role as a stop off for travelers on the busy road from London to Oxford. Likely to have been a pub of some description since medieval times, a list of previous landlords dating as far back as 1759 still hangs on the wall. From tales of highwaymen and confirmed accounts of 18th Century vicious robberies, the George & Dragon’s past is certainly a colourful one!
Producing 1200 Litres of cask and kegged beer per batch, Portobello Brewery at The George & Dragon is one of the largest brewpubs in London. While many of our beers have been created using popular styles and trends, the brewery will also introduce niche and seasonal brews, such as American Pales and Session IPAs. Expect to find a big list of guest beers too from some of the best microbreweries such as Beavertown, Siren, Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock, Thornbridge, Clouded Minds, Wiper & True and Wild Beer.
We couldn’t decide between traditional pub grub and our favourite world cuisine. So we threw caution to the wind and opened up our Sabai Thai kitchen that also serves those British classics we can’t get enough of. Whether you’re a beer battered cod with hand cut chips type, or a Pad kra-pow with jasmine rice sort, we’ve got it down.
